Character's Name: Kadaj
Character's Fandom: FFVII: Advent Children
Character's Powers/Abilities: Kadaj is a summoner, able to conjure shadowcreepers and a dragonlike creature called Bahamut Sin.
He can hurl fireballs from the Materia embedded in his body and sometimes the energy glows around him.
He is an excellent fighter with his double-bladed sword called 'Souba', able to handle the heavy weapon with seemingly no effort at all. One blade
is a normal katana and the other is a shadow blade. He can wave the sword to distract someone and apparently disappear for a second or two, to reappear beside the unsuspecting foe and kill them.
His ability to leap impossibly high and fall from a great height without being hurt is an advantage. Kadaj is very agile and he can successfully fight several opponents at once. A normal being would have to be incredibly lucky to beat him.
Character's Canon History: When Sephiroth refused assimilation into the Lifestream and broke up into three remnants, Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz were created. Since Sephiroth came to control the creature known as Jenova because he was a living form of the alien mixed with human genes, and she was no longer alive, he imbued the remnants with his desire to reunite all the Jenova cells and destroy the planet. But Kadaj didn't know this; he was looking for 'Mother', aka Jenova. He thought she favoured Sephiroth rather than understanding that she was Sephiroth. Yazoo likewise shared this belief so strongly he didn't question it. As long as Kadaj led the remnants so fervently, he had no reason to think there was any other path for them.
After the three are formed they initially seek Mother at the Northern Crater where her ship had crashed some 2000 years before. But Rufus Shinra's Turks are there and one of them (Reno) gets away with the alien's head (packaged in a preserving container) via helicoptor.
Kadaj meets with Rufus Shinra to try and find Mother. Shinra is one of those stricken with a disease called Geostigma, which seems to mostly affect children. Geostigma is the result of Jenova cells using the Lifestream to cause illness in anyone infected with her cells. Kadaj forms a plan to abduct the children with the disease, sending Yazoo to collect them. Kadaj finds the way to take over their minds and wills, hoping they would instinctively find where Mother's last remains are hidden. This takes them to a monument in the city and he thinks she's beneath the momument dedicated to the planet surviving Meteor, which was Sephiroth's plan to destroy the world. Kadaj uses the power of Materia to summon Bahamut Sin, with which to not only terrorise the city but also to have Bahamut destroy the monument. However, Mother is not there and Cloud Strife manages to destroy Bahamut with some help from his friends.
This is when Rufus Shinra reveals he has what remains of Jenova. Kadaj manages to get Mother and he roars off on his motorbike, to be followed by Cloud. They are in a fight to the death in the ruins of Midgar amongst tall buildings. During the fight, Kadaj figures out he needs to absorb the remains of Jenova. After he does this, Sephiroth reappears where Kadaj had been, to challenge Cloud again. Despite his taunting of Cloud, and his being able to control the weather by turning the skies black with an ominous stormfront, he is defeated after a ferocious battle. He assumes the form of a one-winged angel, declaring he will never be a memory, before dissolving into what seems like smokey black feathers, leaving behind a mortally wounded Kadaj.
Cradled by his 'brother' Cloud, the youngest Sephiroth remnant dies. Kadaj thinks he hears Mother call him from the Lifestream. He raises his hand and dissolves back into the Lifestream. He doesn't know how long he's there but he does find out Mother's not there as well as getting a different story on everything that happened. Kadaj also finds his brothers, who died not long after he did. Yazoo and Loz arrived just after Kadaj's death on the rooftop. Yazoo shoots Cloud in the back, hoping to hit him in the heart. He probably does though he and Loz are weakening considerably in the Holy rain which starts falling on Gaia in order to heal Geostigma.
In the Lifestream, Kadaj and Yazoo begin to play around with possibilities, recreating places they had been to examine certain situations, almost as if wanting to understand they could possibly have different ideas than Sephiroth/Jenova. Both of them are matched in their intelligence if not their emotional ages. Here Kadaj abandons most of the angry, vengeful part from Sephiroth while Yazoo doesn't change all that much from his brief physical existence.
Then they're kidnapped into a new life, whether or not they want it.
